(Londonderry, NH) - Pro Star Aviation has successfully completed its first FANS 1/A upgrade of a Bombardier Challenger 604 aircraft. This installation took just two weeks and was accomplished in conjunction with routine aircraft maintenance. The STC used, STC ST04027CH issued February 20, 2015 (holder; Jet Aviation), covers the installation of the new Rockwell Collins CMU-1000 Datalink and the TrueNorth Iridium SATCOM along with the upgrade of the L-3 Communications Cockpit Voice Recorder.
The FANS 1/A upgrade will allow the Challenger operator to comply with the impending mandate for Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Contract (ADS-C) and CPDLC Controller Pilot Data Link Communications services required for operating in the North Atlantic Remote Oceanic airspace as well other remote regions worldwide.
Additionally, the operator was furnished with ARINC Direct FANS Gold Plan, giving the operator FANS 1/A FAA Letter of Authorization (LOA) assistance, Flight Planning and Operations Services, iPad Application and Flight department training. Coupled with pre-requisite equipment, this operator will be compliant to operate in the North Atlantic NAT Track system as well as WAAS LPV operations and will be set up to comply with the ADS-B Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast mandate in 2020 requiring a simple transponder upgrade.
Pro Star Aviation is proud of this accomplishment and eagerly awaits their next Challenger customer. For more information about Pro Star Aviation and/or their services, please visit www.prostaraviation.com or call (603) 627-7827.
